It’s always a privilege to help out our good friends at O’Tillie with their Kinfolk dinners they put on! The food is always so good, especially when they do collaborations with other local food vendors to incorporate in to some of their dishes! At this dinner they teamed up with Carter and Rye for their meat pies and their take home pastries, they were delicious!! It’s also always so fun to see complete strangers come together around the dinner table and converse with each other and enjoy each other’s company! I love my family. I love hanging out with them, playing with each of their kids, watching them grow as parents, in their careers, staying updated on their lives and staying close with one another. We get together at my parents house in Lincoln just about every Sunday afternoon to eat lunch and enjoy each other’s company, for the most part ;) So when my wife, Amanda, had the idea to have a dinner with family and friends in their backyard, it was very fitting for us! Our good friends at O’Tillie Pork and Pantry have small dinners that they host about every other month and the focus of them is to gather and enjoy other people’s company around the dinner table, so it was perfect to have them put on a dinner for all 19 of us! We loved every minute of it, even when it rained towards the end, hence the Handmaid’s Tale look haha! We look forward to many more special times together! Enjoy!

New House!

LIVING ROOM PROCESS:

LOL

We tore up the carpet, hoping to reveal beautiful hardwood floors and we did!

But there was fake brick plaster stuff on the floor next to the front door.

So I spent a while scraping that all up with a putty knife and Windex. Worked pretty well actually.

See. They got it all sanded up when they refinished the floors.

Floors all sanded.

Testing the color. We loved it.

So shiny and glossy.

Texturing the ceiling because you could see waves and lines on the ceiling, but the texturing covered it up nicely.

Amanda picked everything out, I just went and picked it all up.

LOVE this room.

OFFICE PROCESS:

Had to put our stuff somewhere...

Love the way this all turned out.

KITCHEN PROCESS:

BASEMENT PROCESS:

My aunt Mary came to help and painted the whole basement's first coat by herself. Thanks Mary!

We had to sleep in the basement for several months while we finished the closet and our bedroom upstairs.

We finally got all the surround sound hooked up, thanks to the people before us for getting it all put together, and finally got a real TV!

MAKEUP ROOM PROCESS:

Tore up the carpet in this room also to get those nice wood floors to show!

So nice and shiny!

CLOSET PROCESS:

As you can tell, this was definitely the room that went through the most change. It was only half drywalled, so my dad and Phil Connatser helped do most of it. Wouldn't have been able to do get it done without those two!

This was another thing I was horrible at and hated. I am not good at perfecting things on the house that are supposed to look neat and nice. That's why I like tearing up the carpet, and ripping out staples, not finessing drywall lines. Thanks dad!

I am very happy with how this turned out.

MASTER BEDROOM PROCESS:

I love the cabin-feel to our master bedroom. Even though in the winter it gets freezing cold up there and in the summer it gets sauna-hot. PTL for window AC's.
